Okay, time to get back in the groove of this whole “writing” thing. Recovered from Kaldheim and back to my happy place: five clean color pairs to find a land and wring that sweet sweet efficiency. Also started Lil Chandra watching her first Magic stream tonight (I had 30 seconds of unsupervised parenting while Benalish Momma was unpacking the bike). Attack of opportunity!

Draft log

Rip Apart is a borderline signal for Lorehold, but that’s a late Environmental Sciences so that’s an easy choice. I settle into Prismari and fight for it, and I think it was worth it!

P1p2

Yikes what a bounty of riches! I take the Phoenix because… it’s a phoenix. And I think that’s the right choice given its staying power. But tough choice.

P2p2

Another yikes choice! I don’t think Elemental Expressionist is… that good? And the value of lessons went down a smidge with the Phoenix so I take the Heated Debate. Another very tough choice.

deck

Baby’s first Prismari deck! I’m cautiously excited, since they seem to steamroll me. It seems to cover all the bases: good removal, good engines, and the Crackle with Power. The math is hard (XXX-RR) dealing X times two damage. So for 8 mana, it deals 10 damage twice. Kill something and hammer oppo’s life total. I’m in!

3-0

First game against Prismari mirror that had mana trouble then in game two I went through 33 cards of my library. Prismari!!! Then another Prismari mirror where I drew into my direct damage to dome oppo. Crackle with Power is the truth! Then A THIRD mirror for the championship. Quite the battle, but victorious!

  1. agree that it is clear, that’s not the ick factor.

yes it is super gross. there are certain places that are gross, like referencing ‘the stack’. ‘as this ability resolves’ is another one.

i’m trying to conduct a wizard battle here, not program some computer. that’s what work is for.
