Draft

Opened Judith in a medium pack, and then promptly passed a High Alert, Chillbringer, and then ANOTHER high alert which wedged me into Azorius Big Butts deck pretty firmly. Not the greatest, clearly another Azorius drafter in the pod of six. But pretty fun to put together. Definitely seemed like the right thing to force with double alert.

Deck

Deck was… fine. Ethereal Absolution on a semi-naked splash (just a single locket and no guildgates at all) but the power is worth the damage to the curve. Sometimes I took out the Giant for the big six-mana bounce two spell and a petitioner for the Essence Capture counterspell, seeing neither.

Result

Finished 2-1 in the finals, losing to Luis with a pretty good grindy Orzhov deck. Funny moment when we both had our respective Absolutions out causing… nothing to happen.

Learnings

High Alert is definitely good, the haters were very wrong. It turns mediocre commons like Senate Courier into absolute beaters. Also the big blue bounce spell is really good. I was behind on board and it just bought me three turns to get my act together.
