It’s not often that a deck wins Personal Hall of Fame status on flavor alone, but this one got there. BW was not the strongest color pair in MoM, but with key uncommons and rares it could get there by grinding value. Literally every single creature in the deck is Phyrexian, creates a Phyrexian token, and/or Phyrexian themed… except for Elspeth. So in my head-canon Elspeth-tired of sacrificing herself for the common good-decided to team up with Phyrexia and be on the winning team for once. Can’t blame her.

It was very fun to play as it just slowly ground down opponents with ever-growing Phyrexians. Having ALL your creatures gain +1/+1, or surveil upon death, or flip into a creature for free was a powerful engine. Each game I would fall behind early and then slowly build back. I went 7-1, beating some bangers (Sunfall, the ridiculous 12/12 GW dino, etc) on the way. I only lost to a very good BR deck where I had just stabilized and turned the corner… when they topdecked their Act of Treason to finish me.

MoM was a very fun set, but I definitely struggled trying to draft/build/pilot anything that wasn’t straightforward UW knights or BR sacrifice. It was nice going out on top.
