This was a week where quarantine and general COVID-ness finally wore me down. While I did learn the origin of the word “quarantine” came from the 40 days that England required shipping from the Baltic Sea to wait offshore due to the plague outbreak, that wasn’t enough to get me excited for the day. And usually historical trivia is my jam! A dire sign.

Draft log

Going to start streamlining the draft picks a little more, since I’ve developed a better habit of willfully picking “power versus fit” on each pick. The lane was a pretty clear RW… though “RW party” or “RW warriors” *wasn’t* clear and I waffled on it, ending up with a scrambled egg deck (to mix delicious metaphors)

Summary

The deck is awkwardly straddling party payoffs and a tighter focus on warriors. But that didn’t matter in round one, when I ran over a mono-white “stuff” deck. Second round was against UB rogues which was a definite squeaker but really fun to play against. Then I stumbled badly against a very good mirror, that had the Sneaking Guides making 4/2 Bug-Catchers unblockable.

Interesting Moments

keep or mull (game 2 vs. rw party aggro)

So this is against the RW aggro deck. A one-lander that is clooooose to fully functional on 2-lands (Blademaster + Equipment). I think this is a keep on the draw, but the odds of stumbling against a fast deck are too high. I mulled.

2-1
