Probably need to figure out how to draft a party deck one of these days. That black/red… thing didn’t really qualify. I also had to completely sell out to Lil Chandra at dinner: I actually said, “No dessert until you eat your vegetables.” I left in some weasel language, “a GOOD job” and eventually salvaged my pride by feigning complete disbelief that she could even EAT so many vegetables. But still, we are doomed to parenting cliches.
Draft log

P1p1
Pretty easy umara wizard over rabid bite
P1p2
A lot of good blue to choose from! Ultimately I take the flip land, that being my default choice unless clear tie-breaker. The Infiltrator is good, but is UB-goldish since it relies on other rogues.
P1p3
No blue, so solid card versus reliable removal? I take the Fledgling but it’s close.

p1p6
Draft went well, but made a mistake not taking the second into the Roil P3p4 (I was worried about my creature count). Deck ended low on interaction.
Summary

Ah Azorius, always good to be in my spirit animal. Round 1 was pretty fun as I ran over UB with that cute lil’ Canyon Jerboa. I was worried that it wasn’t a great fit in this deck, but it really enables some fantastic attacks. Had a real “feel good” stabilization with Relic Amulet and drawing cards onto a stalled board at 4 life. Got ran over by a good RW deck, with Nahiri, and a pretty good misplay by yours truly where I forgot that the Fledging doesn’t have flying without landfall. Round three was another RW deck, this one with Relic Robber, which is pretty solid against my slow, grindy deck. Then ran me over again with a perfect curve out and the gold warrior lord. A bit of an underperformance I feel, but facing some very smooth RW decks was always going to be a tough ask for this deck.
Interesting Moments
P2p2

Do I take the roil eruption or the Relic Amulet? I agonized about it for a bit, until settling on the Amulet. Which was definitely the Right Call. Red never flowed in pack two or three and the Amulet was absolute spice.
Keep or mull (game 1)?

Gotta love those 5-land keeps. Ended up getting run over by RW, but I think it’s a defensible keep in the dark.
