Finally broke in the Discord and pioneered the triple draft with co-Daddies Patrick and Chris. Each of us pilots a draft with two coaches then we all simultaneously play. Three drafts per game of Magic. Given how I enjoy the draft about 5x more than playing Magic, this was a pure spike of joy.

Interesting Picks
P1p1: Clear Pyromancer. Time to try the draw-many deck?
P2p3: I’ve started taking some white and here comes a Loch Dragon vs. Searing Barrage. Loch Dragon has really impressed me and is obviously great with the Pyromancer. I take the Loch, adding to my quad-reds.
P3p3: Redcap Melee vs. Ardenvale Tactician. I’m still unsure how “red” I am in this deck, but I think the efficiency of the removal is just too much to resist.
Self-Assessment
So the white became irresistible in pack 2 and I’m actually kinda proud of myself for grabbing it. Oddly, pack 3 was the hardest to draft since I wasn’t sure if I was 12/5 mountains for my quad-reds or more white with the Ardenvale Tacticians. This draft format is so, so very good.
Deck

Pretty clear curve-out-and-beat-down deck. I’m not wild about the Henge Walkers with a 9/7 mana split, but I think they’re necessary for the Flutterfoxes. 16 mana with only 3 cards at 4+ CMC. I’ll be interested to see how Joust and Worthy Knight do.
Results
- Round 1 vs. GW: Started with a tough mull that lacked white mana but had a Merchant. I think that’s the responsible choice, but it felt very bad when I went straight to 6 land hand and mulling to 5. But never give up and never surrender! The Merchant pulls me back in while oppo flooded out. Game 2 I mulled to 6, but 2-drop to Tactician with backup will win a game. Especially if oppo stumbled on mana.
- Round 2 vs. RG: Oppo led off with a Beauty & the Beast, which is always a little chilling. I 2-for-1’d myself to get rid of it and then my air force finished things. I mulled to 6 on game 2, faced ANOTHER Lovestruck Beast, but this time just removed the 1/1 Beauty. Sure it’s a thicc blocker, but I had the air force again and just beat down with fliers. Finals!
- Round 3 vs. UB: Oppo led off with a double Pie. Oppo grew a Malevolent Noble to a frightening size and then got me with the Reaper of Night. I put up a fight, but my small curving-out creatures don’t match up. I do manage to alpha down to 2, but Midnight Clock went off. In game 2 I flooded pretty badly (kept a 4-lander). I drew Shepard of the Flock one turn too late to protect me from a removal. I did topdeck a Trapped in the Tower which I thought wouldn’t work against the Reaper, but it can’t attack! Gah! Oppo’s deck was very good and I wasn’t reliably fast enough to punish it.
Learnings
Please think before playing a land. Not that it would have saved me against the Reaper, but it was a sloppy play.
“Given how I enjoy the draft about 5x more than playing Magic”
strong disagree, i think it is at least an order of magnitude. Unless you are disentangling the deck drafting from deck building, in which case I say it is about right.
