Draft Log

Well that was a strange draft. Veered into white in the middle of it since my read of the turn was that there were very few white drafters. That said, I certainly didn’t get paid off in any meaningful way! It didn’t cost me much (a Netcaster Spider, maybe an Overcome that this deck wouldn’t want) so it seemed a reasonable speculation with the massive angel in P2p1. But still, quite odd.

• Round 1 vs. Sultai: Well I pull off the Steel Overseer/Prismite combo. It died rapidly and I get stuck on three lands while oppo lands a Mu Yangling. The game got out of hand quickly. Game 2 I get the Overseer with a Prismite and run him over. Game 3 gets crazy with a giant board stall as I’m low on life, but Steel Overseer is rocking out with friends again. Oppo stuck Mu Yangling again and eventually drew a win-con before I could power through with humongous artifact creatures.
• Round 2 vs UW: oppo started out with a Loyal Pegasus to Sprite to Eagle. Yeah, that’s a five turn loss! Better game 2, thanks to Steel Overseer. Game 3 was more of a real fight. The board stall out, I get the Steel Overseer but don’t have flying answers. I sort of stabilize, but sort of done, and eventually lose.

Learnings

Well all this deck had was Steel Overseer, but that proved to be quite a bit! Definitely not a good deck, a bit grateful to go 0-2 and be done with it.
