Draft
I honestly don’t see how single parents do it. The Raptor Momma is pulling double-duty preparing for a job interview which has put me on Childcare & housecare double-shifts. it is.. quite exhausting. Yet oddly this also gives me the time to zonk out and sneak a draft in.
this was a weird one. I like my discipline in pack 1, not being tempted by black and finding red.

Results
- Round 1 vs UB: oppo got stuck a bit on land, as did I, but I have Gift of Paradise. Oppo started to cycle the Skeleton to block but trample is a great cure for that. In game 2, I get stuck on just green mana but stabilize with a Pulse of Murasa and start to build my board presence. Unfortunately, the Bloodsoaked Altar combo with Skeleton started to do some real work creating 5/5 flying demons. And the Diamond Knight got up to 6/6! 8/8! But I got wide with the Howling Giant and pull out the last-turn Alpha-strike
- Round 2 vs UB: we traded resources but as they went up on card advantage with a Winged Words, I had board presence and removal in my hand. A Scholar of the Ages reloaded them (removal is a little late against that card). Oppo had a heroic defense, with lots of card advantage. Frankly, there was a point where I’m at 20 life and he lands Broker of Blood! 8/8 flying! Then Yarok, that weird Sultai creature! I lose! When he had zero cards in his library! In game 2 I kept a hand with two forests… and don’t draw a mountain for quite some time. Needless to say, long games favored oppo. A Negate ate my needed Gift of Paradise and then I had no resources. An unfortunate loss to be sure, but definitely lost to a VERY good deck.

- Round 3 vs. BW: I keep a three-forest hand on the draw and don’t draw land for 4 turns, losing to their buffed with-icon cards. Game 2 goes a little better, as I overwhelmed their Squad Captains (yes, plural). Game three they get the Angel of Vitality Day Break Chaplin combo which just put me under too much pressure.
Learnings
It’s true, midrange is not where you want to be. I keenly felt the lack of 2-drops too, as it wasn’t fast enough to pressure them, nor durable enough to go long.
