Draft
So the very helpful “How to draft 4C Green” from Lords of Limited literally landed 12 hours too late to help me with this pile. Nothing even remotely resembling signals outside of some playable red & green late in pack 1. Unsure if it was clear that I should be the 4C green at this point but I commit early in Pack 2 and get blessed with a wheeling Gateway Plaza. I go nuts with two bombs (Rhonas and the triumphant sequel of Enter the God-Eternals). The P3p2 choice of Ugin’s Conjurant vs. EtG-E is kind of interesting, but the ceiling is just too high and this deck needs variance and a high ceiling. Ride or die with my enormous Lazotep friends!

Results
- Round 1 vs RB: A turn 1 Dreadhorde Butcher is rough to deal with. But I have a 2-drop, stabilize and pull away. No mana problems on this round! Round 2 a good draw and then oppo mysteriously resigns on the fifth turn, denying me a ON CURVE Enter the God-Eternals.
- Round 2 vs RB: Oppo burns a lot of removal and sticks a Krenko. We trade but he has a lot of bodies on the ground backed up by a Nahiri. I start pulling ahead with card advantage and close it out. Another good draw, but I fall behind early again, stabilize with Enter the God-Eternals, and then pull ahead and alpha with Rhonas. I seriously cannot believe I’m 2-0 with this mana base.
- Round 3 vs. GB: oppo has a tight deck that gets key removal and then is pressuring me with big fatties. Game 2 Rhonas breaks a board stall nicely. Game 3 I finally mull, but oppo gets stuck on one color and I blow through him with board presence.
Learnings
Well. Uh. That was unexpected. Power level and card advantage can do a lot in this format. Ral’s Outburst was an MVP for me but I faced some bad decks that I had just enough tools to deal with.
Let’s take a more formal look at my splashing tools. My reliable sources were a New Horizons, Mana Geode, Gateway Plaza, Leyline Prowler, and a Guild Globe. The Deathsprout, while sweet, probably doesn’t count. Adding 5 pieces of fixing DOES do a lot to help and is probably enough to justify the maximum greed.
