Draft
A bit of a feels-bad-man draft. A late Depose // Deploy, followed by playable blue & white commons makes me think that Azorius is open. But the Sunder Shaman that I open in pack 2 wheels. It WHEELS. That makes me sad. Azorius feels a little cut on pack 2 but opens back up. Doesn’t feel like this deck got all the way there, though some beef with a Gate Colossus might help.
Deck

Definitely concerned about the amount of air in this deck: Prying Eyes, Sphinx’s Insight, Locket, Acuity, Clear the Mind,Shimmer. Combined with the lack of removal, I could easily get run over. In fact, I think I’ll swap out a Shimmer for an Arrester’s Zeal now that I type it out. Feels like 1-2.
Results
- Round 1 vs Simic: quite a grind where my Dovin’s Acuity grinds me back into game where oppo pulled off a Mass Manipulation for 3. Game two oppo ramps Engineer into Locket into 5/5 Sphinx, which is hard to deal with. Then I get my Gate Colossus just in time for him to Mass Manipulate it against me. Clear mistake: I should have put him on the MM and waiting for him to take lesser things.
- Round 2 vs bant: Azorius Knight-Arbiter plus Angelic Exaltation is quite the combo. The lack of Slimebinds (and removal that can do anything to opposing A.K-A. I do pull out game 2 with a clutch topdeck Chillbringer that allowed me to push through an attack for exactsies. Game 3 I almost stabilize but being able to pump up his hybrids is tough to race.
Learnings
Felt like it was the right lane but a lot of missing pieces. Like removal! Removal would be nice.
