Draft
Starting to wonder if I should just call this Gruul Dad? P1p1 Ram followed by a brief dalliance in Rakdos & Simic, only for a P1p7 Savage Smash to bring me back home. Two more rams to follow, so I started snapping up gates of any shape. The big question is how much am I curving out vs. more midrange. In P3p1, it’s a choice between Smelt-Ward Ingus and Rubblebelt Runner. I had a ton of 3-drops (so many BTVs & Rams) so that pushed me a bit cheaper, but with so many gates I’m not sure how often I’m really beating down.
Deck

Again, super duper straight-forward. I do have a Titanic Brawl or two in the sideboard, which I can see myself bringing in (against fliers etc.) given the amount of raw beef I have on the ground.
Results
- Round 1 vs. Gruul: I win game 1 handily, but get ground down by Guardian Project in grame 2. That’s a lot of card advantage when trading creatures. Didn’t help that I stalled on 4 land. Then my oppo quit after a subpar attack? Very strange.
- Round 2 vs. Azorius: I draw all three Rams versus a deck with double Clear the Mind. So… that was over fast. The second game was about the same as they stumbled on mana and never recovered. To the finals!
- Round 3: I mull 7 lands, oppo mulls to 5. I curve out, Titantic Brawl his blocker and just maul him. Kinda similar round 2, though took a little longer, all the way to turn 9.
Learnings
Curving out and applying pressure makes for an elegant game plan I daresay.
